Class Participation Class Participation Regular participation is required and represents a large portion of students’ overall grades. Students are expected to be punctual and prepared for class. Students who are habitually late or leave class meetings prematurely will receive deductions in their Class Participation grade. Active Participation Student actively and frequently contributes to class discussion. Critical Thought Student's contributions to class discussion are informed by course themes and class readings in addition to intuition and life experiences. (examples: demonstrating knowledge of assigned texts, making sophisticated arguments, incorporating content from previous class sessions)	Well Below Average Comments are never grounded in critical thought.	Below Average When applicable, comments are rarely grounded in critical thought.	Average When applicable, comments are sometimes grounded in critical thought.	Above Average When applicable, comments are frequently grounded in critical thought.	Well Above Average When applicable, comments are almost always grounded in critical thought.
